Company History
1950 Established Tomoe Shokai Co., Ltd. and commenced retail of specialty gases.
1973 One department in Tomoe Shokai Co., Ltd. began retailing helium gas for balloons across Japan.
1979 The balloon business went independent from Tomoe Shokai Co., Ltd., becoming Takarakosan Co., Ltd.
1982 Developed the first “balloon with a film check value (one-way valve)” in the world, and started retailing it.
1986 Opened the first “Balloon Shop Tuxedobear” in Japan. (December 1986)
1990 Opened Osaka Offices in order to expand business in the Kansai area.
1991 The “T-Balloon” was awarded Best New Product by the National Association of Balloon Artists (NABA).
1995 Developed the balloon and helium spray can used for the “Shabelloon” developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
1996 Following on from rubber and mylar, completed the “bright balloon” using a new balloon material.
Developed the “Cluster Balloon?.” (Global patent acquired) Started retail of the “Magic Balloon series?.”
1997 Opened the “Gas Center” in Ome City, Tokyo.
Opened the “Azabu Office” in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
1999 Opened the “Setagaya Office” in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo.
2002 Opened the “Narita Logistics Center” in Katori District, Chiba Prefecture (Now Narita City).
2003 Started rental of “3500L helium cylinders with slide case.”
2004 The “Azabu Office” and “Setagaya Office” merged, and head office functions were transferred from Ota-ku to Shinagawa-ku in Tokyo. All departments obtained the international certification “ISO14001” in regard to environmental management systems on January 23, 2004, as part of the Tomoe Shokai Group.
2005 Developed the highly functional gas barrier film “ibrex”.
Started export and retail of the “Bubble Balloon series.”
2006 Started retail of the “Character Balloon Set” series.
Started retail of the “Hologram Balloon” series.
2007 Started retail of the “Shoulder Pakkin” series.
2008 Started retail of the “Party Balloon?” series.
Started retail of the “Balloon Palette?” series.
Started rental of “1500L helium cylinders in case with casters.”
2009 Started retail of the “ibrex? Message Balloon series.”
2010 Started retail of the “Million Star” series.
Started retail of the “Rhinoceros Beetle Balloon (3D)” and “3D” series.
Expanded the line-up of “ibrex? Message Balloons” series (Sweet Heart, 14”Heart, 15” Star)
Opened the group comprehensive site “Balloon World.”
2011 Transferred the “Logistics Center” from Narita City in Chiba to Yokohama City in Kanagawa.
Implemented a balloon release for “Great East Japan Earthquake Recovery Support Balloons”.
Started support for small lots of film balloons through use of inkjet printing.
2013 Pioneered using 7000L super light helium cylinders with balloons.
Transferred head office from Shinagawa-ku to Ota-ku in Tokyo.
